“In Georgia and around the world, Meta partners with independent third-party fact-checkers certified through the non-partisan International Fact-Checking Network & European Fact-Checking Standards Network. The independent fact-checkers, not Meta employees, determine what content to rate. These allegations are false and dangerous.”- Meta spokesperson

After digital postcards spread on Facebook were labeled as containing false information, FactCheck Georgia became a target of various groundless and unsubstantiated accusations and attacks.

FactCheck Georgia started its fact-checking operations in 2013. Since 2017, it has been a verified member of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), and since 2023, the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN), which is due to the organization's compliance with the best practices and standards of fact-checking.

Both IFCN and EFCSN condemn the harassment of FactCheck Georgia and Myth Detector and reject claims that their verification process includes “lobbying” or any other form of undue influence.

Since September 2020, FactCheck Georgia and Myth Detector are members of the Meta’s Fact-Checking Program and adhere to the principles of the International Fact-Checking Network and the policies of Meta’s Fact-Checking Program.
